Bonjour tout le monde. Nous avons déjà terminé deux semaines! Le temps ensemble passe rapidement. Notre but cette année, c'est s'habituer à entendre le Français, et surtout, parler en Français. We are immersing ourselves by using free aplications on our phones via Instagram, following a French student's photos and reading the comments left by a french friend, watching Youtube videos of a favorite hobby or sport in French, or soccer games. Quelques-uns ecoutent la musique françaises sur Youtube. Parlons, écoutons, apprenons!
8th grade French is working hard on La Fête Internationale, or International Fair, which will take place in April. Since our guests from Les Chartreux in Lyon asked specifically to time their visit with the fair, students are being encouraged to do their best to impress and engage our exchange students. The class has now mastered "IR" verbs as well as comparisons and is moving on to RE verbs. Before break we were fortunate to have an ISU student from the Congo named Eulalie share her country, culture, love of cooking congolese cuisine and wonderful French language with us.
The passé composé or past tense is now a part of 8th grade's skill set. The class can now discuss events that happened last week, last year, last night, or yesterday. Looking to the future, unique foods, representative of French speaking countries, have been chosen by the groups for their International Fair booths. In April I can assure attendees of International Fair that there will be a variety of delicious foods to sample!
Bonjour! 8th grade has now mastered the Passé Composé with "AVOIR" and are now being introduced to when "Être" is used for conjugating Passé Composé. This week students have been introduced to new verbs that involve earning and spending money, as well as winning games and sports matches. The next project for International Fair is the tri-fold brochure, which students are designing and writing to showcase their country at "I-Fair." This is a fun and creative project, to which we will be devoting two class lab periods.
