7th grade French, Metcalf

  1. 7th grade French is compiling personal "conversation starters" or flash cards to aid them in conversing together in French by sharing hobbies, favorite foods, sports, and music.
We just finished an assessment of interrogatives or question words.
The class is creating models of their rooms or videos or Powerpoints in which they will describe and explain what is in their own personal world. Saying where things are located in their rooms by using the words "above, below, next to, beside, close to and behind will be a focus of the project.

  2. It's hard to believe it's already February! 7th graders have been working on videos that showcase their speaking ability. The class is using their sense of humor to describe themselves and make comparisons with others, based on personal interests. They can now describe themselves, others, talk about what interests them such as sports, hobbies, preferences and they are also aware of cultural differences in grammar. Routines and weekly schedules have been mastered by the class. More important grammar building blocks have also been tackled: articles expressing "some" and "any" as well as when definite and indefinite articles such as "a" and "the" are used in French. This is challenging, as there are many differences in French, and these can't be translated literally. We're moving on to irregular "BAGS" adjectives next, as well as reinforcing ones we have already learned.
